Musical Ecologies continues Thursday February 11th with New York-based sound artist Ranjit Bhatnagar. Combining technology, language and found materials, he is known for his ingenious interactive installations and invented musical instruments. Each year since 2008, he has dedicated the month of February to his epic Instrument-a-Day project wherein he creates a new homemade musical instrument on each day of the month. For this event, which falls right in the middle of this annual project, he will demonstrate some of his newest instruments, perform a work with contact mics that explores tiny and unnoticed sounds, and present a live remix of videos found on the web. The evening will begin with a conversation hosted by series curator Dan Joseph, and a reception will follow.

Musical Ecologies is a monthly symposium on music and sound held every 2nd Thursday (except where noted) at the Old Stone House in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Curated and hosted by composer Dan Joseph, each event typically focuses on a single artist who presents a work or project either in the form of a talk or lecture, a multimedia presentation, a performance, or combination thereof. Each presentation is preceded by a 30-minute conversation with the curator and audience.
