i created an instrument i call the “Gronkhorn”: a 7-foot piece of PVC tubing that was the correct diameter to accept a bass-clarinet mouthpiece. i made the reed out of something doubtlessly similar to a metrocard.
at the time, i lived in a second-floor apartment that was right across the street from a dance hall, and frequently experienced teenaged doodlehums hiding in my front yard (behind the hedge) doing doodlehum-like things… so, once i decided to serenade them from the 2nd floor window. the response was incredible, and i never had people hiding behind my hedge after that. 8)
